Great to see our HSBC Heritage Wall in Düsseldorf being used as a backdrop for an exchange of views between HSBC colleagues.
The EU is ASEAN’s third largest trading partner after China and the USA. German companies alone delivered goods worth of more than $30 billion to the ten ASEAN-countries in 2023 – an increase of 3.2 percent compared to the previous year and the highest value since the pre-corona year 2019. Given the rather weak economic development in Germany in 2023, this is an impressive growth.
There is great interest among German companies in the ASEAN markets. HSBC colleagues from the region came to Germany for a roadshow and are engaging in direct exchange with companies there.
HSBC is present in six ASEAN markets (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines). Singapore has established itself as the hub of choice for clients looking to setup their regional headquarters, for Southeast Asia and for wider Asia Pacific. And it’s fantastic that colleagues like Johannes, Vikrant, Anurag and many others are able to share their on-ground expertise in Germany with the backdrop of our HSBC Heritage Wall.
